Sea Shell

Designed by

Nanna Ditzel

1996

Through her work with veneer, Nanna Ditzel sought to create movement. With this chair, she began to work with folding techniques, pushing the veneer to the limits of what was possible. Movement is expressed in the material itself in the form of tension in the tightly arranged folds. The folds give the material a self-supporting structural strength while creating light-and-shadow effects.
Presented at The Cabinetmakers’ Guild exhibition in 1996.
