The Floating Dock

Designed by

Nanna and Jørgen Ditzel

1961

The Floating Dock was designed with the intention of simplifying living room furniture as much as possible and creating a flexible spatial alternative to the sofa group, that supported the trend towards freer behaviour. It appears as a spatially fluid platform based on square and rectangular additions in the form of foam cushions and a delicately constructed base. Jørgen Ditzel died in April 1961, and this was the last design that Nanna and Jørgen created together.
