Ring Chair
Designed by
Nanna and Jørgen Ditzel
1958
The Ring chair was originally made in collaboration with Kold Savværk in Kerteminde. Here, the furniture was manufactured more industrially than the working methods of the master carpenters permitted, and this gave Nanna and Jørgen Ditzel the opportunity to refine details in the furniture. The living room seating furniture needed to create a space for the seated person. The circular shape encircles the person and at the same time allows for different seating positions. To lower transportation costs, the chair was originally designed to be flat-packable. The seat, armrests and legs were originally separable, but this is no longer the case.
