Vita Sofa

Designed by
Nanna and Jørgen Ditzel
1951
As early as 1949, Nanna and Jørgen Ditzel were working on furniture in which the load-bearing and supportive elements of the construction were separated. The aim was to create furniture with a light, airy expression that could be experienced freely within a room. The Vita sofa is an example of this approach. Its construction is open, and the backrest is reduced so that the sofa does not enclose the space, but instead stands freely and can be viewed from multiple sides.
In collaboration with Nanna Ditzel Design, the sofa has later been adjusted to contemporary body dimensions. Originally produced as a three-seater, it is now also available as a two-seater.
Manufactured by Carl Hansen & Søn
