The Mountain Plateau

Designed by
Nanna Ditzel
1962
Nanna Ditzel called for furniture that offered possibilities for flexibility, and she sought alternatives to traditional square chairs and sofas. Together with cabinetmaker Poul Christiansen, she presented a stair landscape at the Cabinetmarkers' Guild Furniture Exhibition in 1962 that demonstrated innovation and creativity. The round, inviting furniture was placed on a plateau of carpeted platforms, and the design won second prize at the exhibition. To celebrate Nanna Ditzel's centenary, Fredericia Furniture produced an edition of 100 lounge chairs, made of Oregon pine and the lacquer finish on the wooden frame is specially developed to match Ditzel's original work from 1962.
